EMR SOLUTIONS APP
Part of the team to redesign the Electronic Medical Records solution for a private hospital, focusing on enhancing user experience, streamlining workflows, and optimizing data accessibility for healthcare professionals, resulting in quantifiably organized, easy, and efficient record management and routine tasks.
Industries: Healthcare, Wellness
Platforms: Android
Competencies: Visual design, UX and UI design, research, product design, team collaboration
Deliverables: Sketches, wireframes, visual concepts, prototypes, style guide.
PROBLEM
For the users: The existing app design was rigid, lacked functionality and user-friendliness, requiring a learning curve for each new user. It had limited information feeds and access, with extensive medical record information scattered across multiple sources or missing. Additionally, it lacked real-time updates and sharing capabilities.
For the business: The app redesign was necessary to improve efficiency, productivity, interoperability and collaboration, and enhance regulatory compliance and security contributing to streamlined operations, cost savings, improved patient care, and strengthened competitiveness.
CHALLENGES
Working as an off-shore team member required extra communication and collaboration
Target users:
Hospital staff consisting of Healthcare professionals, support and administrative staff, pharmacists.
Process and workflow:

Collaborated with the team to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current EMR application, engaging in in-depth research with hospital staff to understand their specific requirements and to identify existing shortcomings and pain points within the system. Additionally, conducted informal research by consulting colleagues possessing extensive healthcare expertise. Leveraged insights gathered from these analyses to shape the initial design direction and prioritize key features for the application redesign.
Defined requirements based on information from stakeholders and research to create a shared team understanding and provide direction for a flexible information architecture.
Sample of requirements:
Intuitive work-flow
Intuitive re-grouping of information
Progressive disclosure of information
Ability to add notes
Facilitate real-time updates
I started with sketches of the main sections to keep creative ideas flowing. This also enabled quick and iterative feedback from the remote team.
I worked with the team to create advanced prototypes for complex interactions, add features, refine visual design, assemble a style guide and pattern library.
